Cody Symens
Conservation Officer Cody Symens has been involved with the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks since May, 2008. Cody’s duty station is located in Redfield where he covers Spink and Faulk Counties.
Cody grew up in Willow Lake, South Dakota, on a family farm raised by his parents and two siblings. Cody’s dad got him involved with the outdoors and wildlife and from thereon he knew he wanted to work with the Game, Fish and Parks Department.
After high school, Cody attended South Dakota State University in Brookings where he majored in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. Graduating in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree, Cody was fortunate to land a job with Game and Fish shortly after.
“I look forward to every opportunity I get to meet new people, help them along their way, and educate all ages about South Dakota’s outdoor recreation and what it all includes. The outdoors is a place to build friendships that you will never forget no matter your age.
An outdoor experience will last a lifetime, but a lifetime will not last forever; therefore, get youth involved and carry on the South Dakota outdoor tradition.”
Cody assists Team Huntress with animal identification, providing furs and power point presentations. He is on hand to answer any questions. His contribution and support complements and encourages not only women but all to enjoy the riches of the vast outdoors.
